God would rather have our hearts than our offerings. (If He truly has our hearts, the offerings will follow.)
Obedience is more pleasing to Him than are sacrifices. (Obedience is our way of showing that we understand what the sacrifices are truly about.)

^I’m so glad that I took out the time to read my Sabbath School Lesson this morning. Today’s meditation was definitely God’s way of speaking to me.
“A while back a former gang member came to our church. He was heavily tattooed and rough around the edges, but he was curious to see what church was like. He had a relationship with Jesus and seemed to get fairly involved with the church. After a few months, I found out the guy was no longer coming to the church. When asked why he didn’t come anymore, he gave the following explanation: “I had the wrong idea of what church was going to be like. When I joined the church, I thought it was going to be like joining a gang. You see, in the gangs we weren’t just nice to each other once a week—we were family.” That killed me because I knew that what he expected is what the church is intended to be. It saddened me to think that a gang could paint a better picture of commitment, loyalty, and family than the local church body. The church is intended to be a beautiful place of community. A place where wealth is shared and when one suffers, everyone suffers. A place where when one rejoices, everyone rejoices. A place where everyone experiences real love and acceptance in the midst of great honesty about our brokenness. Yet most of the time this is not even close to how we would describe our churches.”—Francis Chan (via sinfreed)
LOVE VS. SEX: A teenage girl about 17 had gone to visit some friends one evening and time passed quickly as each shared their various experiences of the past year. She ended up staying longer than planned, and had to walk home alone. She wasn't afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few blocks away. As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Diane asked God to keep her safe from harm and danger. When she reached the alley, which was a short cut to her house, she decided to take it. However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man standing at the end as though he was waiting for her. She became uneasy and began to pray, asking for God's protection. Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped round her, she felt as though someone was walking with her. When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man and arrived home safely. The following day, she read in the newspaper that a young girl had been raped in the same alley just twenty minutes after she had been there. Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could have been her, she began to weep. Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young woman, she decided to go to the police station. She felt she could recognize the man, so she told them her story. The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a lineup to see if she could identify him. She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the alley the night before. When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down and confessed. The officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if there was anything they could do for her. She asked if they would ask the man one question. Diane was curious as to why he had not attacked her. When the policeman asked him, he answered, "Because she wasn't alone. She had two tall men walking on either side of her." Amazingly, whether you believe or not, you're never alone. Did you know that 98% of teenagers will not stand up for God? Repost this as Love vs. Sex if you truly believe in God. PS: God is always there in your heart and loves you no matter what and if you stand up for him he will stand up for you. I bet 93% of the people that read this wont repost it. I read this and reposted it. Well I bet you read this note because of the title, didn't you?
Praying for all the families of the young people killed in the Norway shooting. God, only you can restore the brokenhearted and provide peace that passes all understanding. I just pray for comfort upon those families and that you may give them hope in this moment of hopelessness.
If you missed the News Reports, you can read a summary of the Norway massacre from a New York Times article here.
Please join me Tumblr family in praying for these families in this time of loss and sorrow.
… he saw a couple sitting there. The boy had his hand on the girls upper leg. She was wearing a short jean skirt. The pastor turned to the boy and said “Do you plan on marrying this girl?”…being a teenage boy he said “I don’t know were just dating” and then the pastor said “Then get your hands off another man’s wife.” This has always hit home with me.
It’s obvious who’s buying the records these days, because the music being made is definitely catering to an audience that wants to dance and have sex, not groove and make love. The music isn’t telling stories anymore, not conveying the pain and triumphs of life and love; everyone’s living at the…
When I was little, I loved watching movies and TV shows where people had superhuman powers like superstrength & the ability to fly. My favorite ability however was pre-cognition (seeing into the future). I would always wonder why we weren’t born with the ability to see into the future and why God didn’t just fill us in on what was coming up next in life. Earlier today, I was having a conversation with a friend who said he was dissatisfied with the unpredictability of life. When he expressed this to me, I wondered ” God, what can I say to him to make him change his mind about what he said?” Right then and there, I found the answer I was looking for, and not only changed his mind, but taught myself a lesson as well. I realized that life, in it’s unpredictability is what makes it so beautiful in the first place. Do you honestly think we would pray, dream, and hope halfway as much as we do now if we always knew what life would bring us tomorrow, next week, or even next year? I realized that God designed life to be unpredictable so our praise for what He’s done for us, in good times and bad times could be genuine and heartfelt. It was created to be enjoyed fully and for everything to occur in it’s own time. I’ve realized it’s just best that we don’t know what’s going to happen next, and to let God surprise us, each surprise being better than the last. I praise God for the capriciousness of life.
